From Seed to Start

Claudine Mboligikpelani Nako developed the first draft of Photosynthesis through the 2021-22 NWxNW grant offered through a collaboration between 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle, WA and Village Theatre in Issaquah, WA & Everett, WA. The original idea for the story was inspired by a photograph submitted to NWxNW by Maleah Metz, and Nako’s desire to explore the topic of Black women’s mental health and the burden of being perceived as a community role model.
